CULTURAL PROGRAM

In partnership with School District #79, the Cultural Program provides guidance and direction to schools for a healthy and supportive environment that reinforces Cowichan Tribes cultural values and teachings.  The program develops culture and language curriculum materials for use in schools.

Projects underway include:

  • Development of Quw’utsun Syuw’entst (Cowichan teachings) for the primary and intermediate curriculum.
  • A resource for teachers and cultural teaching assistants to integrate the Cowichan language and culture into the K-12 curriculum in School District #79.
