TS'EWULTUN HEALTH CENTRE
Ts’ewulhtun Health Centre began operation
in 1992. It manages public health
and communicable disease control for Cowichan Tribes, and provides
health education programs. Other administrative
services include:
A Health Advisory Committee oversees the budget and major
expenditures, monitors programs, and recommends new programs to
address community health needs. Day-to-day operations
are managed by the Health Director, supported by approximately 75
full-time, part-time, casual, and contract employees. An
Environmental Health Officer conducts evaluations, inspections, and
advisory services related to public health.
Health care programs are funded by National Health and Welfare,
and long-term care services are funded by Indian and Northern
Affairs Canada (INAC). Funding for other programs and
services comes from the Band’s own-source revenue and
provincial grants for youth.
